Indiana historical marker rededication
38th Street & Monon Trail
Indianapolis, Ind.

Proceeds of the 2017 George Street Bike Challenge for Major Taylor enabled the Indiana Historical Bureau to replace a damaged state historical marker commemorating Major Taylor's first world record. The original marker was installed in 2009. Descendants of Major Taylor, along with a representative of the Major Taylor Association, helped unveil the replacement marker at a public rededication ceremony on July 27, 2018, on the Monon Trail in Indianapolis.
