The Seven
Hills Wheelmen held a practice ride on George Street with special guest
Rahsaan Bahati
of Team Saturn, a three-time national
champion and the first African-American to be signed to a major U.S. professional
cycling team in this decade. The steep hill George Street has been a proving
ground for Worcester cyclists since Major Taylor’s era, and Major Taylor is

Rahsaan’s hero. Bicycling magazine (March 2003) says Rahsaan "could be ...
the next Major Taylor," and People Magazine (June 30, 2003) featured him
as one of the "25 Hottest Bachelors."” Worcester Mayor Timothy P.
Murray presented Rahsaan with a key to the city. Fans came to meet Rahsaan
and see his uphill sprinting style, and riders pedaled up the hill in
preparation for the second annual George Street
Bike Challenge for Major Taylor on July 20.
